Recognizing the urgent need for emergency animal care in Latur Taluka, Govardhan Go Shala Ahmedpur launched a dedicated Ambulance Service for Animals. This initiative addresses the critical gap in timely medical intervention by ensuring rapid response and transportation of sick, injured, or distressed animals to appropriate veterinary facilities.
In the year 2023–24, the ambulance service successfully rescued and assisted 62 animals in need, providing treatments for various conditions like mange, internal infections, injuries, and deworming. Our mobile team also conducted on-the-spot medical care for animals unable to be transported and surveyed a 5 km radius to identify blind, disabled, or aged animals in need of permanent shelter.
Beyond treatment, our team carried out spaying and vaccination drives and engaged in door-to-door awareness, educating locals about animal rights, emergency care, and how our services contribute to the well-being of the community. These counseling efforts helped bridge the gap between local communities and animal welfare, promoting a sense of shared responsibility.
Our ambulance initiative is more than a rescue operation — it is a lifeline for animals often overlooked or neglected. By offering quick, compassionate, and professional veterinary assistance, Govardhan Go Shala continues its mission of creating a safer, more humane environment for animals across Maharashtra.
This service has proven especially valuable in rural and underdeveloped areas where access to veterinary care is scarce or delayed. Many animal owners shared their gratitude, stating that the timely arrival of the ambulance saved their animals’ lives and prevented long-term suffering. The trust and connection built between Govardhan Go Shala and local communities through this service have further strengthened our mission of compassion and care.
Moving forward, the organization is committed to enhancing the ambulance fleet, training more on-ground staff, and incorporating GPS tracking for faster responses. Plans are also underway to introduce 24/7 helpline support, ensuring no animal is left without help in times of emergency. With every rescue, we reaffirm our belief that every life—human or animal—deserves dignity, respect, and prompt care.
